OUR STORY

Patrick Street Artist Studios is a not-for-profit arts organisation dedicated to providing affordable, secure and comfortable studios for professional visual artists. We offer a supportive environment for artists in the heart of Dun Laoghaire at all stages of their career.

Patrick Street Studios was set up in response to a clear need: affordable, dedicated workspaces for professional visual artists in Dun Laoghaire. By transforming a local building into studios, the aim is to provide not just space, but also a supportive environment where artists can develop their practice, connect with one another, and contribute to the wider cultural life of the area.

studios & facilities

This is a fully refurbished building with new windows throughout. Each studio has been insulated to provide optimal warmth and comfort, and the building has been rewired and new lighting installed. A new kitchen equipped with a microwave, fridge, and dishwasher is available for all artist. A large shared sink on the 1st floor is for artists’ use. There is a fire alarm and an intruder alarm. The area directly in front of the building can be used as a temporary loading and unloading parking space.

Each studio has a large desk and chair, and small storage/ shelving.

There is a meter reader fitted into each studio to calculate electricity usage. Excess electricity usage will be an additional charge.

The Open Call is competitive. The selection panel is made up of a Patrick Street Studios representative, a curator/artist and an external arts professional.

The criteria for selection are a strong and committed artistic practice, which can be seen through their track record and an interest in being based in Dun Laoghaire.

Dun Laoghaire is a diverse neighbourhood and at Patrick Street Artist Studios, we welcome artists of all backgrounds, ages and stages in their career.

FAQs

The studios are for professional visual artists. To be considered a professional visual artist, you may not earn your income exclusively from your artistic practice, but you must identify as an artist and be recognised by your peers as a professional practising artist.

Studios can be rented for between 1 and 3 years.

The rent for a studio is between €350-€400 per month for studios 1-8, and €250 per month for studio 9.

Included in the rent is heat, electricity (excess use is charged separately), waste, WiFi, management and maintenance of the building, water charges, fire and intruder alarm services.

You can apply as two individual artists sharing the space (you cannot rent the space out to share with a second person).

You can park your bike either within your studio or in the designated area in the backyard.
